2012 Lighthouse Challenge of New Jersey
Marvel at the beauty of the state’s 11 lighthouses slated to light up the coastline the weekend of Oct. 20-21 for the annual Lighthouse Challenge of New Jersey.
This exciting event draws thousands of visitors each year to admire these silent sentinels of the sea.
During the weekend, all the lighthouses will be open for visitation to promote New Jersey’s beacons, familiarize visitors with the locations and encourage them to return and further explore the various areas.
New Jersey is the proud home to some of the oldest and historically noteworthy lighthouses ever constructed.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to explore these beautiful beacons of the Garden State’s shore areas.
Admission charges and other limitations are decided by the participating organizations at each lighthouse.
The 11 New Jersey lighthouses that are open to the public are:
- Absecon Lighthouse
- Barnegat Lighthouse
- Cape May Lighthouse
- East Point Lighthouse
- Finns Point Rear Range Light
- Herford Inlet Lighthouse
- Sandy Hook Lighthouse
- Sea Girt Lighthouse
- Tinicum Rear Range Lighthouse
- Tucker's Island Lighthouse
- Twin Lights of Navesink
