Biking in New Jersey

Cycling has become a popular sport in New Jersey as visitors discover the miles of trails that crisscross the state. Mountain bikers, experienced riders and those who enjoy the simplicity of cycling can pedal along an abundance of trails that abound throughout the state.

Mountain Creek's Diablo Freeride Park and the New Jersey Pinelands are just two examples of the outstanding biking opportunities that New Jersey offers.

Diablo Freeride Park, in Vernon, has become an international mountain biking destination and one of the most popular biking parks in the country that caters to the novice through the expert.

The park has some 40 feature-filled freeride and downhill mountain bike trails. The high-speed gondola brings riders up 1,040 feet to the summit in only six minutes, which means more time riding and less time in a chairlift. Riders routinely log more than 30,000 vertical feet in a single day.

Showpiece trails offer riders some of the most rewarding terrain found anywhere on the East coast. The park is quickly becoming recognized as the ultimate East coast mountain bike playground. Open seasonally – call for operating dates.

For a different cycling experience, there's the New Jersey Pinelands, a 1.1-million-acre preserve that has miles of flat and quiet blacktop or off-road trails that offer cyclists scenic leisure riding, long-distance training routes and adventurous rides through the woods.
