Fall Festivals in New Jersey
Fall is a special time in the Garden State. As summer prepares to fade into winter, the state explodes with dozens and dozens of family-friendly festivals and special events.
Here is just a sampling of happenings for the Shore Region’s Ocean County.

Chowderfest Beach Haven
Long Beach Island, is home to ChowderFest an annual favorite among visitors and residents alike that's held in early October each year.
Chowderfest includes a Merchants Mart with giant end of season sale under tents and there’s the red / white chowder competition.
Lighthouse Challenge of New Jersey
Visit the land-based lighthouses and some lighthouse museums during the Lighthouse Challenge of New Jersey also held in October.
This state-wide event challenges everyone to visit all lighthouses in a two day period.
Ocean County Decoy and Gunning Show
This spectactular show draws thousands each year. The show, held in September, preserves the heritage of the state's waterfowling and baymen's heritage,
Enjoy two days of exhibits, demonstrations, competitions, art, antiques, decoy carving, retrievers, New Jersey Duck Calling Contest, regional food and live entertainment.
Hey Rube Get a Tube Ocean Inner Tube Race
In September, Point Pleasant Beach is the site of one of the most unique ocean races as tubers run into the Atlantic Ocean, assume the tuber's racing position (sitting in the tube and paddling backwards).
Annual Renaissance Fair
Held in September, this event features World Champion Jouster Shane Adams, the Knights of Valour and a competition between Canadian and United States jousters.
Also see archers using the English long bow, a gypsy camp, belly dancers, wandering minstrels, juggles, fire eaters, magic performances and pony rides.
Captain Jack and the Valhalla Pirates also will make an appearance. On Sun. the fair’s King and Queen (chosen from children ages 10 and under in period garb) will be crowned.
Admission: $10 adults; $1ages 6-12; under 5 free. Free parking, Pine Park, Lakewood, 10 am - 6 pm, Sat., 10 am - 5 pm, Sun.
