Action-Packed Water Park Rides

During the heat of the summer, New Jersey transforms into an endless playground of water and waves (and we’re not just talking about the 130 miles of gorgeous coastline along the Jersey Shore). We’re talking about water slides and rides at family-friendly water parks all across the state. So get a thrill, and cool-off at one of these nearby attractions.

At Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Jackson, climb the stairs higher and higher, and then take your pick from a number of thrilling water slides: Cannonball, Wahini, and Jurahnimo Falls, which will catapult your body from zero to 40 miles per hour in just seconds.  There’s a reason this triple-ride gets a thrill level rating of “max.” Or race your friends in the Big Wave Racer, a four-story structure with six lanes that will have you plunging down the 1,800-foot-lanes to see who will reach the bottom first. Once you're reading to relax, head over the Calypso Springs, the brand new 100,000-gallon beach entry-style pool open that opened in 2019, featuring a fountain, lounge chairs, a dining option and more.

In Keansburg, take the plunge at Runaway Rapids, where you’ll find 18 exciting water slides, including Mega Bunga Falls: a water slide that ends with a pulse-quickening drop into the pool.

Ever dreamt of catching a wave? At Beach Haven’s Thundering Surf Water Park, you can get a feel for real waves on the Flowrider, a unique ride that simulates surfing. During the day, the Flowrider is available for boogie board riding, but if you want to try stand-up flowboarding, be sure to come early in the morning or the evening.

Sahara Sam’s Oasis Indoor & Outdoor Water Park in West Berlin offers a year-round indoor water park, as well as a two-acre outdoor wonderland (open May–September). For a ride that the whole family can enjoy, take a seat in a four-person raft, and get ready for a ride down the Mt. Kilimanjaro water slide.

In Mount Laurel, discover The Funplex, a 25-acre indoor and outdoor fun center that’s home to the Splashplex Waterpark. Feel the rush on the Prospector’s Journey: a five-story tube slide with an exciting plummet into the pool.

Located in the midst of the hustle and bustle on the Ocean City boardwalk, the OC Waterpark boasts two parks featuring 35 family rides, as well as water slides and an 18,800-square-foot water-spraying playground. Zoom down the Serpentine Body Slide, which is eight stories in the air.

Casino Pier & Breakwater Beach Waterpark in Seaside Heights offers plenty of family fun right on the Jersey Shore. Test your limits (and your sense of adventure!) on the new Aqua drop free fall: a 50-foot, super-fast slide featuring a floor that drops out from under you at the starting platform.

Just behind Surfside Pier in Wildwood, discover a beachfront paradise at Ocean Oasis Water Park + Beach Club, part of Morey’s Piers. Experience the newest ride at the water park with WipeOut!, a six-lane racecourse that will have you gliding headfirst down the slopes and past the finish line. See what it’s like to race with this point-of-view video.

Also part of Morey’s Piers & Beachfront Waterparks, Raging Waters Water Park in Wildwood features all kinds of family fun and kid-friendly attractions. Enjoy a leisurely float down a lazy river with the River Adventure, featuring waterfalls, a geyser, and grottos.
