When the Halloween season rolls around, don’t just consider costumes and candy. There’s a bumper crop of day-to-night family fun down on the farm with New Jersey pumpkin picking and corn maze challenges. Abma’s Farm

Fall brings the fun here. One general admission price includes parking, access to the farm’s pumpkin patch, petting zoo fun, playground time and, on select days, hayrides. Advance reservations are required, and remember to leave Fido at home – this day of pumpkin picking is for humans only.

Hop on one of the farm’s continuously running hayrides for a trip to the pumpkin patch so you can pick your own. No reservations needed, just show up when it’s convenient for you, pop on your gardening gloves and get to harvesting.

All aboard for a hayride through rolling farmlands, past a pond and out to a fertile field where you’ll find a bountiful pumpkin patch and corn maze that will put your navigational skills to the test. Fall fun and festive treats are all around at Secor Farms.

Alstede Farms

Come for the PYO pumpkins, stay for the corn maze (daytime access is included with every pick-your-own ticket price). Every year, the farm goes all out with a huge, themed corn maze you can navigate in the light of day or tackle after dark as part of their Harvest Moon Hayride.

You can count on John (as in John Deere) to get you to the farm’s pumpkin patch aboard a tractor-pulled hayride. And, if you’re up for the challenge, tackle the five-acre corn maze that’s included in your fall admission.

This farm may be known for its vintage apple trees, but it also offers pumpkins ripe for picking straight from the vine. Whether you’re looking for a big one to carve into a classic jack-o’-lantern 

Stony Hill Farms

At ten acres, Stony Hill Farms boasts one of the largest corn mazes in this guide. It’s so big your a-maze-ing adventure could last one to three hours – there are even games to play along the way and Maze Masters stationed within to help you out! Be sure to visit their pumpkin patch too for pick-your-own fun.

Sun High Orchards

Farmer Don wants you to know a couple of fun farm facts: 1) A green pumpkin plucked in October will turn orange by Christmas and 2) the largest specimen ever grown weighed in at a whopping 1,140 pounds! No wonder the farm recommends bringing your own wagon as one of their pumpkin-picking hacks.

Sussex County Strawberry Farm

Comparing strawberries to pumpkins is like comparing apples to oranges. No matter, though, because this farm known for its strawberries and raspberries in the summer also grows u-pick pumpkins this season! Find your right-sized pumpkin for painting or carving.

Tranquility Farms

Fall weekends bring the excitement to Tranquility Farms. Not only can you conquer a corn maze and go pumpkin picking. You can also hop a hayride, board a cow train, see the farm animals, whiz down a hay slide and more. Your doggo is even invited for the fun.

Every autumn, this fourth-generation farm carves out an eight-acre corn maze (one of the Garden State’s biggest!) for your adventuring enjoyment. Once you’ve triumphed over the maze and picked your own pumpkin, be sure to treat yourself to some fresh-baked apple cider donuts.

You can’t beat the original. Howell Living History Farm boasts New Jersey’s longest-running corn maze. At four acres, it challenges your sense of direction, and as you make your way through the labyrinth, you can play a one-of-a-kind maze game. Other fun fall activities at the farm include a pumpkin patch, hayrides and a haybale maze for the kiddos.

This seventh-generation, family-owned farm is “not just for the birds.” This season, it’s also for the u-pick pumpkins! After harvesting your plump produce for Halloween, you can return for the turkey that will take a place of honor on your Thanksgiving table.

Experience 200 acres of fun on the farm for the whole family. Throughout October, you can find your way through the free corn maze and pluck your own pumpkins from the vine. You can even make a whole day of it – pack a picnic lunch and let the kids run and jump on the tractor tire playground.

Are you all ears right now? Because this is the one farm in this guide that has a giant sorghum maze in place of a corn maze. It’s actually two mazes in one, with three acres designed with younger children in mind and four acres for the big kids.
