Keep Your New Year’s Resolutions in New Jersey

It’s a new year and a new start, and just because you’re on vacation doesn’t mean you have to give up any of your promises for a great 2019. Here are a few of the top New Year’s resolutions, paired with fun ideas for how to keep them while you’re visiting New Jersey.

Resolution #1: Get in Shape

There are plenty of things to do outdoors in New Jersey (even in winter!), and what better way to keep your resolution to get in shape than to explore the scenic countryside.  Visitors looking for skiing in New Jersey will find everything from picturesque cross-country skiing to well-maintained freestyle terrain. Read about all the array of skiing options here. You also could spend a day sledding at Lewis Mountain Park, or lace up your skates for an afternoon of ice-skating at Allamuchy Mountain State Park.

Resolution #2: Spend More Time With Family

Looking for fun things to do with kids in New Jersey? Easy. Get wet and wild at the 55,000-square-foot indoor water park CoCo Key Water Resort, or try New Jersey’s only indoor surfing simulator at Sahara Sam’s. Go up close to marine life at Atlantic City Aquarium, and then watch a thrilling show of knights on horseback, swordplay and jousting at Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament. Or visit one of the many amusement parks.

Resolution #3: Learn Something New

Plan a trip to one of the nearby museums in New Jersey, such as the Morris Museum or the extensive Newark Museum, which touts 80 galleries of art and science, a mini-zoo, planetarium and much more. Both Princeton and Rutgers offer university art museums. Or, experience history first hand at one of New Jersey’s many historical sites and memorials.

Resolution #4: Eat Healthy

With so many farm-to-table restaurants and farmers markets in New Jersey, it’s easy to find ways to eat healthy, local food. Fill up on sustainably grown produce at The Frog and the Peach or seasonal dishes at Peter Shields Inn. Read about even more “Jersey Fresh” restaurants here. During warmer months, spend some time at a you-pick farm like Emery’s Berry Farm or DeWolf’s U-Pick Farm.

Resolution #5: Save Money

It’s easy to have a budget friendly vacation when you take advantage of free things to do in New Jersey. See exotic animals at Cape May County Park & Zoo, peruse artwork at the Princeton University Art Museum, or explore historic artifacts at the New Jersey State Museum — all for free!
