Unique Agritourism That Wows in the Garden State

From getaways by the vines to alpaca farms and honey straight from the hives, agriculture meets tourism in the most one-of-a-kind ways in New Jersey. Here are a few amazing destinations to add to your calendar.

Nothing goes together quite like lavender and alpacas – especially at Hidden Spring Lavender & Alpacas in Skillman. On weekends, visit with and feed gentle, award-winning alpacas for cuteness beyond compare or check out their website for a Saturday alpaca walk. Then head to the Shoppe for a wonderful assortment of products created with alpaca wool and lavender grown right here on the farm. From warm alpaca socks and gloves to all-natural lavender soaps, head-to-toe lotions, aromatherapy items with 100% pure lavender essential oil, lavender scented wreaths, and lavender tea and honey. You can even shop online. A spectacular space for showers, birthdays and weddings too.

Less than two miles from Cape May’s historic downtown, you’ll find Beach Plum Farm. Home to eco-conscious farming, the Farm Market, Farm Kitchen, walking tours, six cottages with space to sleep six to eight guests and an exceptional farm-to-table dinner series. Reserve online for Fall Harvest Dinners, Thanksgiving Dinner, the Holiday Dinner Series and New Year’s Eve Dinner. Check back for spring and summer dinners too. Wedding bells in your future? Celebrate your love story here with the perfect wedding venue. Also a great go-to for business meetings and retreats.

What’s all this buzz about bees in New Jersey? Nestled on the shores of Gooserock Pond in Montville, Gooserock Farm maintains about 100 colonies of honey bees in apiaries throughout the Garden State – and the results are very sweet indeed. Visit the Honey House to stock up on prized raw local honey as well as artisan honey spreads, comb honey, beeswax candles, hand-crafted creams, soaps, lip balms and oh so much more.

Sip, saddle up and stay by the vines at Laurita Winery. Situated on 250 acres of vineyards, woodlands, meadows and pastures in New Egypt, this top-rated winery is the perfect place to enjoy a glass or a bottle of white, red, or rose and stay at The Inn at Laurita Winery open on specified weekends for the 2023 Laurita Wine Festivals.  And then there’s riding the horse, of course. Saddle up and go horseback riding along serene trails at the Laurita Equestrian Center. Additionally, ask about celebrating your wedding at the winery.

Bobolink Dairy & Bakehouse is a regenerative and sustainable family farm located in Milford known for creating foods that nourish people in harmony with nature. The farm is home to over 60 cows and offers 100% grass-fed raw cow milk cheeses, pastured meats and rustic, wood-fired heritage grain breads. Visit at 9am on Saturdays and Sundays to see the cows in the barnyard and stop in the shop for a tasting and purchase. Check the calendar for upcoming musical events. And be sure to sign up for cheese making and bread making classes
