Things to Do: A Day in Ocean City

Ocean City has been touted as one of the best beaches in New Jersey. Spend a day at the beach and enjoy all that Ocean City has to offer. With tons of activities and things to do, there is sure to be something for everyone.

The obvious attraction in Ocean City is its stretch of white sandy beaches. Spanning 8 miles of pristine coastline, Ocean City is a perfect place to swim in the surf or build sandcastles on the shore. A less obvious place to enjoy the water is the bayside of the island, but there are plenty of water activities to enjoy on the bay; fishing for sea bass, kayaking and sailing are a few options.

Ocean City’s boardwalk is the lively epicenter of this beach town. Stroll up and down “the boards” and check out the local surf shops like 7th Street Surf Shop and Heritage Surf. Enjoy frozen custard from Kohr Brothers or grab some kettle corn at KB’s.

Spend the afternoon testing your balancing skills. For land activities, consider bike rentals from Ocean City Bicycle Center or Segway rentals from Boardwalk Segways. For water activities, rent kayaks from DAKS Kayaks or Bay Cats, or take a surf lesson from FCA Surf Camp. Stand up paddle boarding is becoming one of the fastest growing water activities and is another great option for the afternoon. Check out rentals at Harbor Outfitters or OC Paddleboard.

End the day enjoying a meal at some of Ocean City’s best restaurants. The Hula Restaurant and Sauce Co. is known for flavorful sauces that make any dish delicious. Grab a slice at the popular Manco and Manco Pizza, and watch the pie making show, as the pizza chefs twirl the dough and make each pie fresh for all customers to see.
