Overview
The building was custom designed for this location by a Dutch architect and was built for Paul Cushman Cameron in 1926. The original structure had one porch on the first floor and in the late 1940s. Two more porches were added facing the Atlantic Ocean and offering a panoramic view of the coastline. The morning sun rises in full view bringing a light and cheery glow during the start of the day. Before noon the sun has moved overhead and for the remainder of the day the porches are shaded and cool. Since the house is built on an ocean front corner lot, it is open to summer breezes on three sides. Most rooms face the ocean to the south and east with the remaining rooms open to the west. One of the unique features inside the house is an airy stairwell in the center of the building which, circulates the ocean breezes throughout the building. This also provides convenient access to the porches, the bedrooms and the two large gathering rooms that are used for relaxing and socializing. The atmosphere is quiet, no phones or TV's in the bedrooms, but two comfortable gathering rooms have color television and friendly companionship.
