  • Overview

    Boxwood Hall was built around 1750 and was the former residence of Elias Boudinot - president of the Continental Congress who signed the treaty of peace with Great Britain at the close of the Revolution. The house later became the home of Jonathan Dayton, the youngest signer of the Constitution. The home is most famous for George Washington's visit to his friend Elias Boudinot here in 1789 on his way to New York for his inauguration as the first President of the United States.
