• Overview

Built in 1892 by silk magnate Catholina Lambert, Lambert Castle (then known as Belle Vista) passed from private ownership in 1925. Owned by the city of Paterson (1925-1934) and the County of Passaic (1934-present), the Castle is home to the Passaic County Historical Society's museum and archives.

The museum's changing exhibits and furnishings reflect the local history of Passaic County. Visitors will experience a self-guided tour through this historic house, with both period rooms and historical exhibits. Lambert Castle is also host to an extensive calendar of lectures and historic presentations, concerts, book signings and several major annual fundraisers, such as the Holiday Boutique in November and the Victorian Tea in April.

    The Museum's Hours are Wed. - Sun. from  1 - 4 pm (Noon - 4 pm, Memorial Day-Labor Day).

The Library is open Wed. - Fri. from 1 - 4 pm (Noon - 4 pm, Memorial Day-Labor Day); and the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month.
