• Overview

Bayshore Center's mission is to motivate people to take care of the history, the culture and the environment of NJ's Bayshore region through education, preservation and example. Headquartered along the scenic Maurice River in the historic village of Bivalve in Port Norris, BDP operates the restored 1928 oyster schooner A.J. Meerwald, NJ's official tall ship.

Public sails and charters are available from Bivalve and other ports-of-call throughout the region from April through Oct. - see website for complete schedule and list of locations. Environmental and history education sails and programs are available for school groups.

One and five-day shipboard camps are available in summer. An annual celebration of Bayshore life - Delaware Bay Days - is held the second weekend of June and includes a street parade, music, food, exhibits, games, crafts, sails aboard the Meerwald, an oyster shucking contest and much more.
