  • Overview

860 acres of natural landscaped grounds with 14 miles of trails, seasonal butterfly garden and nature center. The Watershed Institute is central New Jersey's first environmental group, protecting clean water and the environment through conservation, advocacy, science and education. We protect a 265-square-mile area drained by the Stony Brook and Millstone River spanning five counties and 26 towns.

A non-profit organization we're based on the 860-acre Watershed Reserve in Hopewell. Open dawn to dusk, the reserve boasts more than 10 miles of hiking trails as well as the Buttinger Nature Center and Kate Gorrie Memorial Butterfly House. We also host the Honey Brook Organic Farm, the country's largest community supported organic farm. We are your voice for your water and environment. Visit www.thewatershed.org to learn more.
