WheatonArts 
1000 Mill Village, Millville | Southern Shore Region
First on our list of wheelchair-accessible places is WheatonArts, home of the Museum of American Glass and the world’s largest hand-blown glass bottle. Enjoy demonstrations in the Glass, Pottery, and Flameworking Studios, plus interesting discoveries in the Folklife Center, award-winning Museum Stores, Gate House Café and more.

Know before you go: All public spaces within WheatonArts’ public buildings are on the first floor and equipped with ramps and attentive staff. Assisted listening receivers are available to guests with hearing loss or impairment and an amplified sound system is used during narrated demonstrations in the Glass Studio. American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters, Braille, and Large Print materials will be provided to those who submit a request two weeks in advance. More to make your trip easier: WheatonArts offers accessible parking and restrooms. Service animals are always welcome, and assistants of visitors with disabilities will not be charged admission.

McCarter Theatre Center for the Performing Arts

Next on our list of venues with ADA accessibility is McCarter Theatre Center, one of the most active cultural centers, not only in New Jersey but in the nation. McCarter Theater Center offers more than two hundred theater, dance and musical performances each year. The center prides itself on being barrier-free – making spectacular live performances that are to be experienced by everyone with ease and dignity. Get your ticket today - it’s showtime!

Know before you go: One American Sign Language (ASL), one Audio Description (AD) and one Open Captioning (OC) performance is scheduled for each Theatre Series production. Also at McCarter Theatre Center: Relaxed Performances in a “shush-free” environment encouraged for those with autism or sensitivity issues, parents with infants and anyone who appreciates a socially compassionate space to attend a production. Wheelchair access and companion seating are available in both theatres, so consider this an option next time you’re looking for fun things to do in a wheelchair. Special seating requests should be made at the time of ticket purchase. Special access parking is available for performances in the Matthews Theatre on a first come, first served basis. Other inclusive amenities include Wireless Hearing Assistance Devices plus Braille and Large Print programs for all Theatre Series performances upon request. 

McCarter Theatre

Two River Theater

Two River Theater is a renowned regional theater company providing outstanding plays and educational programs for audiences in Monmouth County and beyond. Two River Theater maintains a steadfast belief that art is for everyone, and its accessibility is a direct reflection of that.

Know before you go:  The theater is barrier-free, with patrons using wheelchairs or walkers able to navigate all areas hassle-free. On-grade entrances, elevators, railings and wide doorways further increase accessibility. Free wheelchairs and accessible wheelchair storage are on-site. Also at Two River Theater: Audio Description (AD), Open Captioning (OC), American Sign Language (ASL) interpreted performances and Large Print programs. Would a little amplification and sound clarity improve your experience? Wireless Assistive Listening Devices are available too. Two River Theater also offers Sensory Inclusive Performances designed to provide an inviting (and judgment-free) theater experience for those with or without sensitivity issues.

Grounds for Sculpture 
80 Sculptors Way, Trenton | Central Jersey Region
Want to get away to an all-abilities-welcome locale where art, culture, and nature are always at play? Then Grounds for Sculpture is for you. Outside, discover nearly 300 contemporary sculptures spanning 42 beautifully landscaped acres. Inside, view six diverse galleries featuring intriguing exhibits from both established and emerging artists. 

Know before you go:  Electric Convenience Vehicles (ECVs) and wheelchairs may be rented on a first-come, first-served basis, and there is no admission fee for personal care aides. Access Mobile Tours are a fabulous way to view the grounds. Each ADA-rated vehicle can accommodate a maximum of five people or four people and a wheelchair. Also, Touch Tours provides a tactile way for guests to explore the grounds. Call or email ahead of time to arrange your Touch Tour. Service animals are always welcome, and all buildings are equipped with automatic doors. The East and West Galleries are fully accessible, and the Domestic Arts Building is fully accessible with an elevator to the mezzanine. The museum is accessible on the first floor, and assistance will be provided to view works on the mezzanine. Accessible parking spaces are found in the main parking lots. 

Newark Museum of Art

Rain or shine, the Newark Museum of Art is always a fascinating time offering arts accessibility for everyone. The state’s largest museum offers outstanding collections, exhibitions, programs, and educational resources on its multi-building campus in the heart of Newark’s Downtown/Arts District.

Know before you go:  To make visits as inclusive as they are inspiring, all galleries are wheelchair friendly and accessible by elevator. The main entrance is ramped with an automatic door and accessible restrooms are found on all floors. Assistive Listening Devices are available, as well as American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters (submit a request five days in advance, please.) Open Captioning (OC) is available during many of the virtual programs. Free manual wheelchairs and portable stools are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Accessible seating (some with charging stations) is located throughout the museum campus. As always, service animals are also welcome.

Newark Museum of Art

The Stockton Performing Arts Center

Know before you go: Wheelchair-accessible seat locations are available for all performances and events. The Performing Arts Center has “stadium seating” with stairs to most rows. Inform the box office of mobility concerns when buying your tickets so they may seat you according to your needs. Accessible parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis in the lots around the performance venues. The Performing Arts Center has an accessible ramp off Parking Lot 6. Automatic door openers are located on all entranceway doors. A wheelchair-accessible elevator for the mezzanine level of the Performing Arts Center is found off the main lobby, next to the restrooms. Wireless hearing enhancement systems and large print programs are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis at the Box Office at the time of the performance. 

Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council

Explore a world of creativity at the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council gallery in Newton. Whether you're looking to view inspiring local art or try your hand at a new skill like watercolor painting, jewelry making, stained glass or alcohol inks, this welcoming gallery is the perfect place to immerse yourself in accessible arts and culture.

Know before you go: The gallery is accessible, and most special needs can be accommodated. Feel free to call ahead of your visit if you have a particular accommodation request. 

Ritz Theatre Company

Experience the magic of live theater at the historic Ritz Theatre in Haddon Township’s Arts District! This beloved venue combines vintage charm with a vibrant lineup of plays, musicals and special performances that captivate audiences year-round. Whether you're a longtime theater lover or a first-time visitor, the Ritz promises an unforgettable night out, with ADA accessibility features to ensure everyone can enjoy the show. 

Know before you go: You’ll find ADA-accessible restrooms on the main floor. Assisted listening devices and large print programs are available for all mainstage performances, and Braille programs can be provided with two weeks’ notice by contacting the Box Office. Service animals are welcome (let them know you’re coming to ensure suitable seating). Additionally, the Theatre offers shadow interpreting, audio description and sensory performances at select times throughout the year; please check with the Box Office for upcoming dates.
