  • Overview

    Choral Art Society of New Jersey will present the first concert of its 63rd season on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 3:00 PM. The concert will feature a perfect pairing of works by composers Marianna von Martines (1744-1812) and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791). The Dixit Dominus by Martines and the Missa brevis by Mozart will be performed with professional soloists and orchestra. The concert will be held at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield. An open reception will follow the concert!

    In addition to Martines’s 7 movement Dixit Dominus and Mozart’s 6 movement Missa Brevis in Bb K.275, the concert will include two of Mozart’s seventeen short instrumental Church Sonatas. It will conclude with one of Mozart’s most beloved works, the beautiful Ave Verum Corpus K.618. 

    The performance will be conducted by Choral Art Society of NJ’s Music Director, John Wilson, and will feature the group’s accompanist, Carol Walker on organ and harpsichord. Soloists Colleen Kinderman (Soprano), Melissa Fajardo (Mezzo-Soprano), Mike Williams (Tenor), and Jacob Kinderman (Baritone) will join the chorusand orchestra.

    Choral Art Society of New Jersey originated as The Suburban Symphony Chorus in 1962. Dedicated to the study and performance of the great choral masterpieces, the chorus performs works spanning many centuries and styles.
