Overview
This spring, NASA launched the first astronauts towards the Moon since the Apollo program more than 50 years ago. Named Artemis after the ancient Greek goddess of the Moon, the project is the next step in exploration of the Solar System. The County College of Morris will highlight the Artemis mission in a full-dome planetarium show Forward to the Moon starting Friday, April 10.
The popular planetarium shows Cosmic Colors and Starlit Nights will also be running this spring. These three 45-minute shows blend cutting-edge technology with immersive storytelling and will be presented beneath the 33-foot-diameter dome to reveal the beauty, science and wonder of the cosmos.
Since 1973, the Longo Planetarium has been bringing the stars to Northern New Jersey. Here one can explore the Universe from the Earth and other planets in the Solar System to stars, galaxies and beyond. The Planetarium's Digistar projection system can display thousands of stars, the planets and the Moon. All are welcome to attend public programs; programs for school, camp and scout groups can be scheduled in advance. The spring schedule features public programs on the second and fourth weekends of the month. Online reservations are strongly encouraged; a limited number of tickets may be available for purchase at the door.
